Although I usually dread Mondays, I had a good feeling that today would be different, motivating and inspiring!

It was my first session returning back from Maternity Leave and my first double booking in awhile.

My morning session was with a lovely Yr6 boy (aged 10) reengaging him back into learning after being away from school for 9 months.

In his English session, we focused on: Plurals vs Singulars and Punctuation marks. This is key skills for improving writing skills, organisation and knowledge on lexicons.

For Maths, we focused on Addition and Subtraction and the column method. This is really important to focus on place value and helps on their mental arithmetic and calculations. I taught my student by scaffolding (breaking down this tasks into small chunks) to help summarise and process this new information as he is a student with various neurodiverse conditions.

My afternoon session, was with a KS3 student aged 14. He wants to become more financially independent looking to work part time on Saturdays. We discussed on reasons why it's important to become financially independent. This was really enlightening for him to visually see what this means via a mind map.

We ended our session with 3x rounds of UNO which was great (until he beat me twice)

Overall, today has been an enjoyable experience. I will no longer look at Mondays as a day to dread but as a day thrive and succeed !
